Saturday, August 18 dawned with clear skies and hearty appetites as fly-in’s and drive-ins flocked to the Grinnell Optimists Club Annual breakfast for French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage and more! Over 600 people attended the breakfast preceding the two hour air show which started at noon with jumpers and the national anthem. Performers included the three-ship Vanguard Squadron flying RV-3’s in perfect formation, Erik Edgren and his comedy act T-clips TaylorCraft thrilling and delighting the crowd, and Lee Crouch with his Outlaw Stearman doing aerobatics.
The day before, Friday August 17, the Grinnell Airport hosted an youth aviation rally for 54 area youngsters, beginning at noon with pizza through an afternoon of learning about airplanes, airports, aviation careers, and the special opportunities for women in aviation.
